You wanted a piece of jewelry first and functionality second. That's fine, on most days I prefer the reverse. But the rectangular screen is very key to its universal functionality, you write as if Apple could have chosen differently and still had broad functionality. nope. Your withings watch is a great example of trying to keep the look.... its functionality is CRAP compared with what is possible w. the apple screen.

And for me as long as it really lasts one whole day, then charging is just part of taking the watch off at night.

Its not that apple is bad at design, rather its selecting for functionality here.

I do agree you need to be aggressive in turning off notifications on the watch, but that is in your control.
