You and I are on the same page about the ills of “profits above all else” and we agree it is dominant today. I just think it has been dominant since the days of the robber barons of a century ago. The only thing shifting is balance of in number of laborers-to-jobs. My PhD is in AI… what worries me is that automation is going to remove many lower skill jobs from the market, thus the remaining jobs will be in high demand (so corporations can be quite ruthless).

I think we will need to invent an entirely new wealth model, since the current one will become very very brutal for many.
