Wow, this was the most depressing article about Ukraine I have read. Depressing since it really makes a very clear case for how Russia wins in Ukraine.

I wonder what the viability of rail lines that would extend thru Hungary to the Mediterranean? If this lasts years then Ukraine would need shipping access.

It seems Russia's fraction of world energy is pretty small so once new contracts are in place (over medium term) then Europe will be ok from an energy perspective.

Over time it seems US artillery will increase, maybe a couple of years out we would have such an abundance that Russia could not maintain the line? not sure if that is plausible.

Finally, I doubt the bleed the enemy strategy makes sense for the US. The real rivalry is with China, and this situation only strengthens China at the expense of the west.
