We can strengthen Labor laws in the USA. No company may walk pay backwards. Germany has much stronger labor laws than we do.

I don’t support this particular strengthening. I have spoken to dozens and dozens about their choice to do driving. Nearly none of them, left a good paying job to take this one. As pay dropped some did say they were looking elsewhere.

But your answer is “let them eat cake” YOU cannot give those folks a job, and if uber were to be legally limited from ever dropping their pay, you can be sure they never would have given that higher pay (while the company was loosing investor money).

So you say “Let them eat cake!!!” I will take those years of better pay… ’cause that is so shameful, I will give you ….. NOTHING in return.

The reality is if you are down to the spot of taking gig work, you may need to treat this situation as temporary, be happy you had a back stop for period of time, but then move onto a better job.

Society NEEDS these backstop jobs…. not good enough to keep, but good enough in a pinch. The alternative is you are on the street with NO job.

So as soon as you or society guarantees these folks a job, I wouldn’t want to take any job or pay from them. (you can’t force Uber to operate at a loss… and if you did, you would just have no Uber and no job.)
