We are told that evil and suffering do not exist there.

If this is true, then consequentiality also does not exist there. That is no one in heaven does anything morally consequential... that part of existence is over.

I only mean to say that it does seem plausible to me in order to life, free will, and morality to have any meaning there needs to be consequences.

Imagine a world of no suffering, no pain, and no wants. How might the creatures in such a world exercise virtue? The saint and psychopath act the same when stranded alone on an island with all needs met.

It seems (to me) that meaning comes from self-chosen purpose, and virtuous purpose comes selecting the purpose of righting some wrong.

the choice to correct a wrong can only occur within the presence of wrongs.

I suppose God could create a separate universe for each person... each filled with zombies that are aparantly experiencing very real pain. but they are just the props needed for each person to choose virtue (or not). But even in this world, the person themselves still needs to experience real pain. Else they have no reason to act. (or any understanding of the pain of others)

honestly I don't know what I believe about all of this stuff... but at least it seems quite plasuible to me that ones needs evil to have real choice and real virtue.
