Trump supporters worry

(1) Dems will allow illegals to sap our social services.

(2) Dems will expand tax-based services to 'other' people (besides illegals)

(3) Dems will move social policies and laws to the left.

There is a grain of truth to all of these worries, Dems need to take the concerns seriously and propose ideas (not loved by their base) that limit those effects, and they need to be loud in supporting these limits (much to the chagrin of the left most base).

These would not be popular things to do, but these are the real drivers behind trump.

As a close friend Trump supporter often says to me "I just wish he would shut it mouth"

e. g. she believes:

(1) will oppose Dems on all three points above

(2) she opposes Dems on all points

(3) these are core values for her.

But there are many Dem values she can support, you just cannot loose her too much on those three.

She is offended by trump, but not enough to ignore those three issues... I think many Trump supporters are in similar situations.
