tilting at windmills!

publishing THIS on medium, what are you thinking ;-)

I am not convinced regarding all of your conclusions, but at least you are really putting yourself into a proper mindset for trying to understand a Trump voter.

On climate. I agree, something is amiss, and the Trumpers sense this. But this is what I believe the truth to be:

Scientists have good reasons to believe that human activity **COULD** be having cataclysmic effect. e.g. species loss per year. But the white washing here is to pretend we have a high degree of confidence that it definitely **IS** having cataclysmic effect. Knowing that any expression of uncertainty can be used as a pretext for inaction, most climate scientists are engaging in spin doctoring, to downplay such uncertainties, because they (rightfully in my opinion) are worried about the POSSIBILITY of calamity.

So I agree with you that Trump supporters smell legitimate deception, and also financially want to "drill baby drill"

But I disagree that as a species we should be sanguine about the risks, even if those risks are far below 100% certain.

(Note: I don't believe there are large risks of society collapsing, but I do think there are real risks of flooded coastlines and hollowed out non-mammilian species ecosystems in 50 years that will cost far more to deal with, than we are saving today... even when one discounts future cost of money.)

I also have stuff to say about immigration, but this already getting long ;-)
