This was a nice article. (which is rare for this space)

Two questions:

Assuming technical analysis does work, then someone probably has studied such traders. I imagine a study where an initial screen is done to identify traders that seem to show they can do this, then studies their FUTURE performance during the study to see if in fact on average they are beating their respective benchmark. Do you know of such studies?

Strategies like "gap up" seem to be predicated on some new knowledge becoming known in the market. Shouldn't you only trust a gap up when you can explain to yourself what caused the gap up?

ok a third question (I can't count :-)) Your three patterns are pretty quantified. I feel I could write scripts to auto detect these in the market. Thus one could gather stats on what happens after a gap up, or a breakout. I would love to see an analysis of what happens next after these signals, average over thousands of cases. Do you know where I might see such an analysis?

.... and to you do significant TA trading yourself?

thanks!
