This is weird logic. If we agree that not all cops commit heineous crimes, then should we absolve cops from responsibility to limit the bad ones. NO!!!

In the same way, we can acknowlege that some looters will always follow protestors. Still we OWN the responsibility to minimize this damage. We even OWN being part of the causal chain (because we are).

But just like the policing, we say hey these protests are too important to abort. So somehow we need to have them, and also minimize opportunities for looting. (when is the protest, where is it, etc.)

Not owning this responsibilty IS culpability! Not minimizing the potential (which still holding the protests) is like cops arguing that a few bad ones are inevitable, and since we need cops then it is ok, that a few bad apples are in the bunch. Yes we need cops, and NO it is NOT ok that there are bad ones.

Do you see the line I am trying to draw.

I am AFFIRMING the need for vigorous protests, but I am DENYING the right to fully aborgate reponsibility. for the consequences.

We should be just as the cops should be. Very apologetic when we cause evil harm, and mindful of all the ways we can limit that harm. While at the same time being very firm in our belief that our cause is so important, it must be continued even knowing there will be future harm.
