This is such a surprising thing to read. I know that Japan is famously worried about its low birth rate. I remember the president got into trouble for saying it was a woman's DUTY to have babies. (Ugh)
Still I am perplexed. Obviously lack of child care is going to dramatically push against women choosing to have children... Even in a patriarchal society like Japan's it seems everyone would see if you want a working woman to consider having a baby, you better make child care available.
Why do you think this is being ignored. Is this just a case of massive denial of reality?
