Steve, this is on point as always. There will be no bottom to this 'wokeness' pit we are digging.

Seems to me there must be a two pronged approach to racism and existing inequality:

One prong is for society to own and continue to improve its worst racist offenses. As you suggest this should be a no-nonsense look at the issues of largest impact and whack away on those in a focused way.

The other prong is a cultural-group by cultural-group movement which say ``We got this!'' yes racism is here, yes it is bad, yes it will be better in the future, no it will never go away.... and we got this. Despite that reality we are going to own our own success, we are not going to cry to anyone else for any under-performance, we are going to own it, and fix it! It is OUR responsibilty to fix it.

They may seem unfair. Actually it IS unfair. Why should one group own the responsibility to fix what another group has created? My very personal answer to this question: (1) because if you don't it wont get fixed. and (2) by not totally owning it, you are telling your own youth they are not strong enough to do it alone. Their fate in the larger society is at the hands of others.

This is disasterous messaging. Why should I try hard if the game is rigged against me, and the only way I can succeed is if others rescue me. Screw that! I am gonna just play some video games...

Not sure what you will think of my thinking.

But I am disappointed not to see other black faces in the list of respondants to this posting. even to just disagree... (alas I am just another white face)
