I assume the point of this piece is to convince its target, that they, just like the "the other guys", are being fed politically motivated hyperbolic content.

This is a noble goal, but using lurid adjectives (like fetid) which the listener does not agree with, does not support your aim.

I think you need to aim far more modestly with the portion of your argument that you plan to defend with plates of steel. Perhaps it is the claim that historians don't see slavery as the basis for capitalism. Not sure, but whatever it is, you need to provide evidence of this claim.

you can end by then saying you have the impression that many aspects of the whole series are similarly flawed if you like. The reader very likely wont agree with that later claim, but at least you will have supported your more narrow claim.

As it is, I think you have not swayed many. (which admittedly is a lofty goal.)
