OpenAI's board had a mandate to protect humanity, and it appears the have failed to be able to control open-AI in that direction.

I don't think this the the triumph of a great leader (nothing against Sam), but it is the triumph of the almighty dollar.

Sam did not want to slow down, his employees don't want to slow down. The board's mandate was to prioritize safety over profits.

In the end what this shows us is once billions of dollars are at stake, the dollar always wins.
