This seems wishful thinking on your part. I do agree that more of the country will be below mid-class. But I am from a less affluent part of the country (even if I live in SF now). My observation is that folks in tough places want to BLAME someone. Now there are a chunk of bernie followers and such that blame the rich. But much of America blame gov spending, blame immigrants, etc.

The left is going WAAAY left in response to Trump. I think the result is that they do not convince middle america voters that they are focused on their problems. Remember Trump got elected by middle america angry that Obama’s big words did not actually translate for them, and his focus was not on them.

Trump convinced them his focus WAS on them. All I see is a left moving left, and Trump supporters even MORE aligned around him.

Remember, being 10x angry at trump does not give you 10x votes against him. I dont’ see a few percent more slipping low changing this picture, and I dont see the left presenting a viable candidate.
