I really loved the open-minding thinking here, and in particular the call for meta-cognition!

I have never really heard such a call from someone who also is an activist on an issue, usually such folks are so deeply entrenched into a single worldview such thinking is impossible.

As I see the issue we have a catch-22 where Israelis have little incentive to take risks or give ground as they have all the security/prosperity they need, and Palestinians individually have little incentive to provide security for Israel given so much has been taken from them and they stand to gain nothing from doing so.

I think I see a way to break this catch-22, but since Israel holds all the cards it asks more of Palestinians initially.
