Nice piece! We need to somehow chart an evidence-based path where we learn to not vilify one side or the other, but rather vilify one-sidedness itself. We need to create a middle path where adherents call BS not on one side or another, but rather on ANY overstatement of what is known. There are “slippery slope” arguments on both sides, which say, better to not any ANY PART of a contrary idea for it will be misconstrued.
Yes it will be misconstrued sadly, but rejecting reality only makes you part of the problem, not part of the solution.
I find it hopeful that you a woman would choose to talk about this — your gender gives you a certain credit among doubters. I dream of a world where we routinely embrace evidence as it is found, while vehemently opposing simple generalizations made from that evidence.
