Indeed that really is an interesting result. The article is already pretty info filled by medium standards, but it is very relevant to your final conclusion!
Its too bad that it is a correlational result, there are so many reasons that variables (like self perceived assessment of health) could confounding these results.
Still it is really very hard to get true experimental results about all cause mortality --- IRB boards and pesky human free will get in the way to doing the experiments you would really like! ;-)
I am swayed some by this result. I need to watch my heart, and so Alcohol has been on my watch list. I think its level of concern dropped a notch or two here. thx!
