In spirit I support your thinking here, but in details I have to disagree.
we both agree that if one side has three transgressions while the other has 3000, and we treat this as symmetric, we are being false. Further, while I cannot prove it, I have the strong sense that if one looks as the 'yellow', less-reputable news, or memes passed around the internet, the right trafficks in out right absurdities far more than the left. Still as soon as you move to mainstream media, the picture is far far less asymmetric. both sides spin very hard, and generally don't outright lie.
As to your claim about truth and bias. I submit that factuality and bias are fully separate things. and just because something is factual does not mean it is not biased. Let me define bias: Bias is the presentation of a world view that is repugnant and rejected by some fraction of the population. The greater the fraction, the greater the bias. You may think one can define bias w/o respect to any human proint of view. in some
objective" way, but I dont think so.
To make this concrete: If I string together a bunch of factual statement about African American murdering more cops that other racial groups, scoring lower on IQ tests, blah blah. I can invite a conclusions that are very biased, yet I only uttered true facts. Of course non-facts are much easier to be biased with, but both can be very biased.
in any case, the present state in the USA is abysmal in the sense that both sides try to actively gaslight the concerns of the other.
