I am not a fan of DeSantis.

Still it is not helpful to frame this as anti-democratic. He is not trying to scare folks across the country... he mostly could care less.

He is speaking to his base. A base that is often anti-black and also feels criminals "get away" with too much stuff.

He is showing that he is TOUGH on such stuff. It is a political game.

The correct response is to say, sure we should respect that law or change it, and the electoral board should avoid sending such ballots out. Then notice this is a tiny sliver of people, meanwhile DeSantis is focused on this and not on XXXX, or YYYY, or ZZZZ.

Redirect the conversation back to issues that matter, don't allow this to become the conversation. Else you are accidentally supporting DeSantis.

2016 should have taught us a lesson.
