I am no blind crypto fan boi. Still anytime we have seen a radically new technology emerge on the scene... it was a shit show. It just didn't work very well.... until it does. then it is a foregone conclusion.

There will be many more times such attacks succeed. And sure you would be crazy to not use existing authority to try to help these systems.

but that does not imply that one will ALWAYS be needing to resort to external authority.

Many financial systems today, now have power beyond any single national authority. (yes they are run by eliets, but they have sufficient power to police themselves) Eventually we will have algo exchanges with such power.

Of course they will not be libertarian wet dreams existing in the absence of external authorities, but they will have significant power to police themselves too.

And the ETH DAO hack was another of these, and very likely the TERRA LUNA attack was a different form of these, so this is not the first, nor the last.
