Erik, I think we agree here. morally Ukraine should be able to do what it wants. Pragmatically no body near a world power gets to do what it wants with impunity.

Given that, it was political and stupid for Ukraine to not rebuff the NATO offer and instead negotiate a neutral position Norway did. Essentially I think everyone assumed the weak Russia of the 1990s was still in effect, so we didn’t care what they did or did not want. This was silly.

that said, I support Ukraine now. what is done is done.
