correlation != causation.
I do agree AI is happening at the same time as this spike. but I am skeptical that generally one causes the other absent observable markers that connect the two. In the case of UPS with a very repeatable job spec, I can imagine the company rolling out some sweeping adoption of AI that rapidly reduced headcount.
But this is the exception. Most businesses are complex and it will take time to integrate AI so deeply they can delete people... and with UPS, I would still want to see the depth of change over for their core practices (it should be MASSIVE) if it really is dramatically dropping their head count.
So you have a clever theory w/o any real evidence supplied. I think we need more in order to expect this it true.
